Skills Workshop: Building Relationships for a Successful Apprenticeship (invite your line manager)

Tue, September 23rd , 12:00pm – 1:30pm BST

New to your apprenticeship or want to build a better relationship with your line manager?

As part of this weeks ‘Get Ahead’ initiatives we would like to invite you to this interactive Skills Workshop, designed to help you develop the workplace relationships and soft skills needed to thrive in your role and get the most from your apprenticeship experience.

We would also like to open up this workshop and invite your line managers to attend for the 2nd part of the session 12:30-13:30.  Share this meeting link with your line manager:

In case your line manager can’t make it, please rest assured that you will still have plenty of opportunities to gain valuable insights from the workshop.

💬 What we’ll explore together:

✅ Why workplace relationships matter for a successful career.
✅ Behaviours and soft skills that strengthen (or strain!) work relationships.
✅ Generational differences in the workplace — and how to navigate them.
✅ How to create your Personal User Guide — “A guide to working well with me” — to share with your manager.

🧭 How the session will run:

12:00–12:30 | Apprentices only

  • We’ll focus on an introduction to workplace relationships, as well as key soft skills and behaviours that help build positive connections.
  • Apprentices will begin working on their Personal User Guide, reflecting on how they work best and what support they need.

12:30–13:30 | Joint session (5-minute break as line managers join)

  • Apprentices and managers will come together to explore generational differences in the workplace — helping to build mutual understanding.
  • We’ll then move into a guided discussion to share Personal User Guides, opening up a conversation about how to work well together.

🎁 You’ll leave with:

• A completed Personal User Guide to take back to work.
  • Practical tips to build strong, supportive working relationships.

📝 Apprentices please take a moment to download the ‘Personal User Guide’ template from the registration page on AoA Connect.
