Students receiving their A Level and T Level results this week can use the GOV.UK app to access official information about their options, whether they are planning to go to university, start an apprenticeship, continue their studies or move into work. 

Results day can be a time of uncertainty as young people consider different pathways. Following the Prime Minister’s pledge to ensure no young person hits a dead end in their career, whether they choose construction, coding, classics or manufacturing, the GOV.UK app brings together trusted government guidance in one place, helping students, parents and carers understand their choices and take their next steps.

Through the app, users can more easily access clear and simple GOV.UK information on how to:

• apply for university courses through Clearing
• become an apprentice and find apprenticeship vacancies 
• find a job 
• access further education courses and funding 
• apply for or manage student finance, including loans, bursaries, grants and other funding 

Students can also personalise their experience in the GOV.UK app by saving relevant topics to their homepage, finding previously visited pages, or entering their postcode to find links to their local council website for more local opportunities and services. This makes it simpler and easier to find the information that matters most to them.

As part of ongoing work to improve how people access government information, the GOV.UK app also includes GOV.UK Chat – an experimental AI tool that allows people to ask questions in everyday language and get clear answers.

If you’re thinking about an apprenticeship, that is a fantastic and ambitious choice. Apprenticeships aren’t a second-best option, they are Plan A for so many people.

The important thing to remember is that an apprenticeship is a job. You’re employed, you’re earning, you’re learning and you’re developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to build your career.”
