This month, we’re super excited to invite you to the Association of Apprentices’ exclusive online Masterclass: Start Strong: Goals That Stick in partnership with BCS.

During this interactive 90-minute workshop, you will:

  • Discover practical strategies to overcome procrastination and build self-belief

  • Learn how to set achievable goals that stick and create momentum for 2026

  • Explore ways to stay kind to yourself while maintaining focus and motivation

  • Take part in interactive exercises and reflective activities designed to boost confidence

  • Leave with actionable tips and a renewed sense of clarity and purpose

Meet your hosts: Two former apprentices who’ve walked the path 👟 sharing real-world insights and practical tips to help you start strong and keep moving forward.

Christina Lovelock is the author of two BCS books, including an award-winning title. With over 20 years in the tech sector, she champions early career professionals, introducing entry-level roles and chairing the development of a UK National Digital Apprenticeship standard. Christina is a consultant, writer, speaker, and qualified coach, regularly contributing to industry events and publications such as ITNow Magazine.

Jamie Kavanagh is a local government leader known for clarity, compassion, and strategic insight. With expertise in policy, data science, risk, and research, he drives Equality, Diversity and Inclusion across major programmes, including Anti-Racism, Community Cohesion, and Culture Change.

A former apprentice, Jamie champions widening access to skills and meaningful work, promoting apprenticeships as a route for growth and empowerment. His approach focuses on honesty, inclusion, and helping people realise their potential.

Jan Richardson-Wilde

CEO, Occupational Awards Limited

Jan is the CEO of Occupational Awards Limited, a Director of the National Skills Academy for Food and Drink and an FE College Governor. She has over 35 years’ experience in the education sector in strategic and operational management of training programmes with colleges, private training providers, local authorities the voluntary sector and not for profit organisations. Jan has previously been a board member of the Learning and Skills Council, chair of the North Yorkshire Training Provider network and Vice-Chair of Yorkshire Coast College and a Governor of the Grimsby Institute for Further and Higher Education. She has extensive experience of education policy, apprenticeships, qualification, and curriculum development as well as business improvement.

Jan joined OAL in 2019, a leading non-profit industry-focused Awarding and End-Point Assessment Organisation, supporting a wide range of employers and of key stakeholders to succeed and surpass expectations. Jan is committed to continuous improvement and enthusiastic about improving the effectiveness, impact and quality of apprenticeships, education, and training in the UK and internationally. She has a wide range of experience of working in a collaborative context with employers and training providers to develop End Point Assessment, apprenticeships, and a wide range of vocational programmes.
