Apprenticeships aren’t just for school leavers

There is still a wide assumption that apprenticeships are for school leavers. It is understandable, as apprenticeships have traditionally been another route to careers after leaving school and are only growing in popularity as more and more programmes are being designed in recent years. It is now possible to become a lawyer, a nurse, even a space engineering scientist via apprenticeships, so are an extremely cost-effective and desirable way to get into an industry you are passionate about!

But how about people who have not just left school, what about people who have worked for 3, 5 even 20 years but want to develop or change their careers. Well, the good news is that apprenticeships are not just an early careers option, there are programmes that have been specifically designed to upskill individuals who already have experience in the workplace. Whether you are a manager who wants to develop your path to senior leadership, or a digital marketer who wants to make a leap into data analytics, or a vehicle technician who wants to gain management skills to lead your team to more efficient processes, there are apprenticeship programmes for you.

There is a chance that if you are reading this you may already be on or have completed an apprenticeship programme, but there is nothing to say that you can’t on keep developing, or that you can’t tell your colleagues, friends or even parents about the opportunities available to them in the apprenticeship world.
